Chanel Biographical Overview

Chanel is a stunningly beautiful, 17 hand Danish Warmblood Mare. Her father, Come Back II is from the famous Cor de la Bryere line and her Dam, is from the “Super Sire”, Landgraf. She was bred in Denmark and was evented by Danish Olympian, Peter Flarup through the CIC*** level.

When I first saw the video of Chanel, I was struck by how much she horse reminded me of my Olympic partner, McKinlaigh. Her style and way of movement, and a certain “presence” that even came across on video. While I wasn’t in a financial situation to be purchasing a going three star horse, something about her kept drawing me back to her videos. I began to hear about horse ownership syndicates being formed, and I decided to take a chance, board a plane and see her in Denmark.

What I discovered in Denmark was everything I hoped for. Chanel displayed presence, talent as well as a wonderful attitude and work ethic. Similar to McKinlaigh, she has the movement to be a pure dressage horse, the scope to be a jumper and the attitude and willingness to go cross country.

Following her arrival to the US in January of 2011, we started our partnership with a win at Preliminary at the Galway horse trials, closely followed by top placings at Intermediate and a successful run at the CIC*** at the Galway Downs International Horse Trials. Chanel is just returning to competition in 2013 after a couple of injuries sidelined her from competition for the remainder of 2011 and 2012. Fulfilling the new FEI requirements at the CIC* level at Galway and the CCI** at Twin Rivers in April 2013, Chanel is ready to return to the Advanced level and is aiming for the CIC*** at Rebecca Farm, the American Eventing Championships and a Fall CCI***.

“The greatest results in life are usually attained by simple means and the exercise of ordinary qualities. These may for the most part be summed in these two: common-sense and perseverance.” Owen Feltham
